The Hooters of Parramatta opened its doors on July 14th to an anxious crowd in Sydney, Australia. This is the first of 5 Hooters locations slated to open in Australia and New Zealand by the end of 2007. "Based on the sales from the Parramatta restaurant, we are very confident that Hooters will do well in the Australia market," explained John Weber, EVP of Franchise Operations for Hooters of America.
The Hooters of Parramatta currently leads the pack with the highest international sales in the Hooters system and holds the highest international opening 7-day sales record of $115,000. Hooters of Parramatta, located at 132 James Ruse Drive, is the 430th Hooters location worldwide and marks the 20th country Hooters operates in.
Michael Flinn, spokesperson for Hooters of Australia and New Zealand, stated, "We are very pleased with the success of our first opening in Australia. Through the tireless efforts of our employees, customers have given us very positive feedback on their dining experience, which is reflected in our record setting sales. We feel strongly that this will be the first of many successful openings scheduled throughout Australia and New Zealand in the near future."
The first Hooters location opened its doors about 23 years ago, and today there are over 430 locations worldwide. It didn't take long for the concept to catch on in the United States, followed by successful international expansion. Hooters is well known for its brand of food and fun, featuring a casual beach-theme atmosphere, a menu that features seafood, sandwiches and Hooters' signature spicy chicken wings, and service provided by the All- American cheerleaders, the Hooters Girls.
