Renowned Chef Opens Sumptuous Steakhouse at The Phoenician

Jean-Georges Vongerichten's J&G Steakhouse is scene-stealing penthouse space featuring vibrant, posh decor and sweeping city vistas |
When is a steakhouse more than a steakhouse? When it's the stylish and spectacular brainchild of Jean-Georges Vongerichten, one of the world's most influential chefs/restaurateurs. J&G Steakhouse (http://www.jgsteakhousescottsdale.com/) is a stunning new crown jewel carved into the penthouse level of the Five Diamond Phoenician in Scottsdale. Opening at the end of the year, J&G Steakhouse will introduce Valley residents to the refined flavors, striking design and stellar service that have defined Vongerichten's fine dining empire, from Manhattan to Minneapolis, Istanbul to Bora Bora.
Dominated by a rich palate and natural materials inspired by steak and wine, J&G Steakhouse provides a refined compliment to The Phoenician's luxurious resort atmosphere. Floor to ceiling windows showcase sprawling desert vistas in the main room, while two offset private dining areas provide a more intimate experience. Outside, two oval banquettes surrounded by blazing fire pits dot the terrace, while a tempest onyx wrap around bar makes for the ultimate cocktail destination. Custom made furniture and light fixtures can be found throughout, giving J&G a modern elegance. The restaurant was designed by The Rockwell Group, famed designers of everything from Broadway musicals such as "Hairspray" and "Legally Blonde" to the new JetBlue terminal at JKF Airport and L.A.'s Kodak Theatre, home of the Academy Awards.
All this is prelude to the bill of fare, a sophisticated collection of steakhouse classics as interpreted by the French-born Vongerichten. Premium meats and a global selection of fresh fish are the backbone of the menu, including the highest quality raw items from the east and west coasts to make up the signature J&G Plateau, as well as prime cuts of meat char grilled to perfection with side-dishes including vegetables, pastas/grains and potatoes such as the Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes.
Heading up day-to-day operations at J&G Steakhouse will be Chef de Cuisine Jacques Qualin, a culinary superstar who rose to prominence through the personal tutelage of Jean-George himself. Also a native of France, Qualin worked with such celebrated chefs as Paris' Claude DeLigne and New York's Daniel Boulud before joining Vongerichten's culinary team at Jean-Georges, the AAA Five Diamond and Mobil Five Star restaurant that launched his growing empire.
Nestled inside The Phoenician at the base of Camelback Mountain, J&G Steakhouse is owned by Culinary Concepts by Jean-Georges (http://www.culinaryconcepts.com/). Culinary Concepts by Jean-Georges creates international, multi-concept restaurant and licensing businesses to be utilized both in Starwood's luxury hotel brands, including W, Westin, Le Meridien, Luxury Collection and the St. Regis as well as freestanding locations throughout the world.
