Are Restaurants Discriminating Against Minority Job Applicants?

Co-author of Freakonomics, Steven D. Levitt, and Diversity Executive magazine have both written about new research from JobApp Network, Inc., which suggests that web-only hiring management systems may be adversely impacting minorities. The study was based on over 25,000 hourly job applicants in the restaurant and retail industries and was conducted and authored by Edgar F. Johns, MSc, a psychometrician and statistician. |
Intrigued by the far-reaching implications of the study, University of Chicago economist and co-author of Freakonomics, Steven D. Levitt, wrote an article on November 5, 2008 entitled, 'The Adverse Impact of Web-Based Hiring on Minorities.' Diversity Executive, a leading HR and diversity magazine, took an immediate interest, as well, and subsequently wrote an article entitled 'Internet-Only Process May Exclude Certain Applicant Populations.'
