BK Asiapac, Pte. Ltd. (BKAP), the wholly owned subsidiary of Burger King Corp. (NYSE:BKC) and DaChan Great Wall Group (DCG) announced today an agreement for BKAP to take an equity position in Home Chain Foods Ltd.(HCF), DCG's subsidiary. HCF has been a BURGER KING(R) franchisee since 1989 and currently operates 33 BURGER KING(R) restaurants in Taiwan. The additional capital infused by BKAP will be primarily used to accelerate the brand's restaurant growth within the Taiwan market.
'We believe that the BURGER KING(R) brand has great growth potential in the Taiwan market,' said Peter Tan, president, BKAP. 'We are delighted to extend our partnership with Charles Han and DCG to help increase our market penetration in Taiwan.'
'Taiwanese customers love the taste of the iconic WHOPPER(R) sandwich and other flame-grilled BURGER KING(R) products,' said DCG Chairman Charles Han. 'By partnering with BKAP we can grow our BURGER KING(R) restaurant base faster and become even more accessible to our guests.'
