Soup Kitchen International Names Keith Lyon President & COO
|
 |
Soup Kitchen International, Inc., (SKI) makers of the Zagat-rated soups of Al Yeganeh, who inspired the Soup Episode on Seinfeld, today announced the appointment of Keith Lyon as President and Chief Operating Officer. |
Mr. Lyon will be responsible for building the corporate infrastructure and managing the strategic growth of the company. In two short years SKI has opened 16 stores and introduced a line of premium branded gourmet soups up and down the East Coast and as far west as Chicago. Mr. Lyon will be responsible for ensuring that franchises are opened worldwide and that the premium branded gourmet soups are available to consumers throughout North America.
Mr. Lyon has a record of success in a range of positions, from CEO to CFO to Treasurer, with a variety of businesses and some of the world's leading brands. He has extensive background in food and consumer goods at such companies as Wise Snack Foods and Nestle, Duracell and Estee Lauder. He was Vice President & Treasurer at both of these last two companies, both of which were highly successful IPOs. Most recently, he led the turnaround of a financial institution to the benefit of shareholders, customers and employees.
"Keith brings a wealth of talent, experience and expertise to the team at a time when the Original SoupMan is on the verge of explosive growth both on the franchise and retail sides of the business," said Soup Kitchen International Chairman and CEO, John Bello. Bello, the founder and former CEO of SoBe Beverages, has assembled a team of highly seasoned franchise and retail food experts to drive the SoupMan brand. "Keith is a proven leader who knows how to win. We are fortunate to have him," Bello added.
Last year, Soup Kitchen International launched the franchise of The Original SoupMan stores, in major metropolitan areas, regional shopping malls, airports, and universities throughout the U.S. and Canada. There are plans to open 1,000 units over the next seven years. Currently there are 16 locations, with approximately 15 more scheduled to open before the end of 2006. The company's retail line of "Grab-n-Go" soups is currently available in over 2,000 supermarkets throughout the U.S. and Canada.
