Chain's shares fall on store opening delays

Jack in the Box said yesterday that third-quarter net income grew 9 percent on strong sales of new menu items, but the company also said it will open fewer new stores than expected the rest of the fiscal year.

Shares of the San Diego-based fast-food chain fell 9 percent, after the company said construction and landlord development delays would slow the openings of 19 new Jack in the Box, Qdoba Mexican Grill and Quick Stuff sites until next fiscal year.
