Restaurant Web Design - 2 Myths Of Restaurant Web Design - By Ava Stochinsky
|
 |
Leading web designer Ava Stochinsky talks about the myths of restaurant web design. |
Myth #1 - You need to pay a developer to make changes
It is likely that you change your menu frequently. It is therefore important to be able to adjust your website to reflect these changes. Stop relying on someone else to make these simple additions or edits to your website.
What you need is a system that you implement within your website that allows you to edit your site as easily. You are looking for something called a Content Management System that will make editing your site as easy as using Microsoft Word. You will be able to login into your website and edit the textual content of your website within a couple minutes. If you want to add your latest update or your daily special you can do this with a few clicks of your keyboard.
The only ongoing fees you should be paying for your website is monthly hosting and annual domain registration. Take control of your site.
Myth #2 - Pretty Movies Help your Website
Imagine a client looking online for a place to dine. They are on their laptop and their connection is a bit slow. They find a listing for your restaurant within Google and try and open your site. You have a very snazzy Flash movie, but unfortunately they are in a rush and just need your address and/or telephone number. Instead of waiting they find another restaurant that allows them to easily open their site in under 10 seconds and navigate through the pages.
Presently there are 45% of North American internet users that are on 56K dialup or slower. It is possible to create a site that is visually eye catching, yet just as importantly allows visitors to browse through your site quickly and efficiently.
Make sure your website loads quickly and you are appealing to the masses in terms of the size of your pages.
