First Wingate Inn & Suites Hotel Opens in Arizona

PARSIPPANY, N.J (Feb. 20, 2003) – Wingate Inns International Inc. today announced the opening of its first Wingate Inn & Suites hotel, a four-story, 100-room property in Goodyear, Ariz.

The 79,000 square-foot hotel features 39 suites, 48 queen bedrooms, 13 king-size guest rooms and plasma TV screens in the breakfast area and fitness center. An on-site AAA office offers guests assistance with their travel plans.

Along with standard Wingate Inn guest rooms, which are 17 percent larger than typical hotel rooms, Wingate Inn & Suites properties feature two-room suites that have a minimum of 552 square feet of living space. The suites also contain all the standard Wingate Inn guest room amenities, including oversized work desks with executive chairs, recliners or lounge chairs with ottomans, microwave ovens and refrigerators.

The Wingate Inn & Suites prototype was developed to meet consumer demand for more space in hotel rooms, according to Wingate Inn President Keith Pierce, adding that 30 percent of the rooms inventory must be suites.

“The Wingate Inn & Suites product sustains the brand’s commitment to meet the ever-changing needs of business and leisure travelers,” he said. “We expect the Wingate Inn & Suites prototype to give the brand a significant boost in national visibility and keep it well positioned in the marketplace.”

Currently, other Wingate Inn & Suites hotels are under construction in Sylvania, Ohio and Greenwood Village, Colo., and three more deals have been signed for hotels in Atlanta; Stow, Ohio; and Ruidoso, N.M.

Wingate Inns International opened its first franchised hotel in July 1996. Its focused service, upper mid-market franchised hotels feature sophisticated, consumer-based technology and comfortable, oversized rooms that were created in response to business travelers’ needs.
