A brief look at McDonald's Corp.'s new CEO, Jim Skinner

NAME -- Jim Skinner

AGE -- 60

CAREER -- Began his McDonald's career in 1971 as a restaurant manager trainee in Carpentersville, Ill. Held a variety of positions within McDonald's domestic operation before becoming senior vice president of the international management team from 1992 to 1995; executive vice president for Central Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India from 1995 to 1997; president of McDonald's Europe from 1997 to 2001. Skinner then became president and chief operating officer of McDonald's Restaurant Group, overseeing more than 30,000 restaurants in 118 countries. Earlier this year, he assumed responsibility for McDonald's Japan Limited, the company's second-largest market with almost 4,000 restaurants. Elected CEO to replace Charlie Bell on Nov. 22, 2004.
