Starbucks Japan Reports Surging Profits for Second Quarter

Starbucks Coffee Japan reported surging profits Tuesday for the quarter through June 30, marking a more than 10-fold improvement from the same period last year as cost cuts helped boost earnings.

The Japanese affiliate of Starbucks Corp. of the United States reported profit of 572 million yen (US$5 million; euro 4 million) for the quarter, up dramatically from 45 million yen the previous year.
