Local McDonald's(R) Restaurants Introduces Fruit 'n Walnut Salads, New Happy Meal Choices and Extended Hours

Restaurants in the Tri-State Area Expand Menu and Debut a Fresh New Look for Summer

McDonald's Restaurants of the Greater Philadelphia Region will debut new products and a new look as part of a customer service enhancement program to begin this spring. Locally, McDonald's will be undergoing a makeover to appeal to the 21st century consumer.

"By offering a range of fresh new menu choices, we hope to show our customers that we are doing our very best to bring them value and variety," said David Santoro, Co-President of the McDonald's Owner/Operator Association of the Greater Philadelphia Region. "Our goal is to tailor the overall dining experience to meet the needs of today's customer."

-- Customers in the tri-state area are among the first in the country to
try the new Fruit 'n Walnut Salad, which features a refreshing bounty
of crisp sliced apples, plump red grapes and sweet candied walnuts
served with creamy low fat yogurt as a topping or dip, is available
now for $2.99.
-- McDonald's is also introducing new Happy Meal Choices. Young customers
and parents will have the option to add-on or substitute their French
Fries for Apple Dippers, a serving of fresh apple slices with a low
fat caramel dipping sauce. One percent (1%) low fat Milk Jugs (white
and chocolate) and apple juice will also be available as a
substitution for carbonated soft drinks. Happy Meal Choices will be
available in the Greater Philadelphia Region mid-June.
-- In addition to the Fruit 'n Walnut Salad and Happy Meal Choices,
McDonald's will introduce Premium Cinnamon Rolls and three new
non-carbonated beverages, Minute Maid Lemonade Light, Powerade and
Dasani bottled water.
-- The menu expansion is part of McDonald's current customer service
enhancement program, a local initiative to provide a heightened degree
of service to its customers. Key aspects of the program include
providing customers with quality service, cleanliness and value. All
300 restaurants in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and
Delaware will add new menu items; improve hospitality; feature
easier-to-read menuboards; reseal and stripe parking lots; replace
current parking lot lighting to provide a more secure environment for
customers; and debut more contemporary and comfortable employee
uniforms. Some restaurants will also begin accepting credit and debit
cards for purchases.
-- Beginning April 1, McDonald's Restaurants throughout the region will be
extending operating hours to better meet the changing needs of today's
consumer. For early risers and night owls, the restaurants will be
open 6 a.m. or earlier and close at 12 midnight or later. Some of the
restaurants will be open 24 hours. (Does not apply to restaurants in
mall stores and Wal-Marts.)
Background
There are more than 300 McDonald's restaurants in the Greater Philadelphia Region, which includes Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Kent and New Castle counties in Delaware that are proudly taking on these customer enhancement initiatives. McDonald's Restaurants of the Greater Philadelphia Region are now open at 6 AM or earlier and close at 12 midnight or later.

McDonald's is the world's largest global foodservice retailer, with over 30,000 restaurants serving more than 47 million people each day in 119 countries. Approximately 85 percent of McDonald's U.S. restaurants are owned and operated by independent franchisees.
